The TQUK Level 4 IQA Certificate (17 credits) is the full Internal Quality Assurance qualification, designed for individuals who want to carry out IQA activities AND take responsibility for leading or improving quality assurance systems. It is the highest level of IQA qualification below EQA and is accepted across colleges, training providers, apprenticeships, and workplace learning environments.

This qualification combines theory, practical IQA performance, and leadership of IQA systems, making it ideal for professionals who want a complete understanding of internal quality assurance.

Course Structure (17 Credits)

 

To achieve the full certificate, learners must complete three mandatory units:

 

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

This knowledge unit covers:

  • The purpose, function and principles of IQA

  • Key legislation, policies and regulations

  • Roles, responsibilities and good practice

  • Internal and external requirements

  • Planning IQA activities

  • Communication, record-keeping and information management

  • Standardisation and supporting assessor development

  • Quality improvement and risk management

 

2. Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

 

This practical unit requires you to:

  • Carry out real IQA sampling of assessor decisions

  • Observe assessors in practice

  • Provide developmental feedback

  • Make judgements on the quality and consistency of assessment

  • Maintain accurate records

  • Ensure assessment meets organisational and awarding-body requirements

  • Apply fairness, equality, diversity and legal considerations

 

You will need access to at least two assessors, each assessing two different learners.

 

3. Plan, Allocate and Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility

This leadership unit teaches you how to:

  • Lead and develop IQA systems

  • Allocate IQA responsibilities to assessors

  • Monitor work output and quality

  • Manage team communication and performance

  • Review organisational systems and implement improvements

  • Contribute to strategic quality assurance planning

 

This unit elevates the award to a Certificate, rather than the 12-credit IQA Award.
